
The Internet revolution is holding up well in the face of difficult financial times. Retailers, and even the odd online property site, are seeing Internet sales stay strong (with further growth predicted) and ad spend is still growing. But perhaps the clearest indication that the Internet represents safe ground is Gordon Brown putting Internet access for children up the political agenda!
The summer has seen consumers stand up for their rights. Permission based email is getting classed as "spam" for lack of relevance, Google is holding less of their data and the FT is flourishing now that it is free again. The message is clear - on the Internet people still want everything for nothing. The challenge is clearer - how do you make money out of people who want everything for free?
Google has had a good summer. Not only has it leapt into Interbrand's Top 10 Global brands, but it has broken into 2 new markets by launching its first browser, Chrome, and its first mobile phone running on its Android platform.
